Storm and Flood Safety: When to Call 1722 for Property Damage Assistance

The FPS Home Affairs has temporarily activated number 1722, following IRM forecasts for this Saturday. The Institute announces a risk of storm and flooding this Saturday. The weather will be unstable, especially in the west of the country, which will make conditions conducive to the development of storms and thunderstorms.

The winds will be particularly strong in Hainaut and in the two Flanders and therefore at the Coast. Gusts of 60 to 80 km/h are expected. Code yellow will be in place between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in these regions.

When to call 1722?

The number 1722 should be used when property damage caused by a storm or water damage requiring the intervention of firefighters. These services can be reached either by telephone on the number 1722, or via the e-desk www.1722.be.

The FPS Interior recalls that the emergency call number 112 must only be used in situations where a life is in danger.
