The flood situation in the state is also likely to slowly ease after the heavy rainfall; according to the state’s hydrographic service, river levels are falling again.
In Hartkirchen (Eferding district), 27 residents of a care and residential home for people with disabilities had to be brought to safety on Saturday afternoon after a stream overflowed its banks and put the building under a few centimeters of water.
1,200 households without electricity at night
In Engerwitzdorf (Urfahr-Environment district), the mobile flood protection on the Gusen may have prevented major flooding. However, firefighters were still on duty in several districts in the morning. According to Energie AG, around 1,200 customers were without power that night, but the emergency teams have been working on the remaining fault points since daybreak.
