Every country has its own peculiarities – also in the bedroom. You can only shake your head at some of these eight bizarre sex laws for our culture. There are others you might want to keep in mind as you prepare for your next trip.
1. Sex Law: Not Quite Kosher
Israel is a land of contrasts. While the three world religions are bustling about in Jerusalem, the wildest parties are going on 65 kilometers away in Tel Aviv. The fact that pornography is forbidden in Israel comes as a surprise. If you are caught watching porn, you could face a prison sentence of up to three years. This probably also applies to the porn channel in the hotel.
2. Sex Law: The Deflowerer
With its white beaches fringed with palm trees, Guam may seem like a dream. A real nightmare, however, is this law that exists on the Pacific island: there it is forbidden for women to marry if they are still virgins. But it gets even stranger! In fact, there are men on Guam whose job it is to deflower women for money.
3. Sex Law: Checkmate
It’s best not to multitask in Estonia, where the law prohibits playing chess while playing bed sports. Nothing against the game of kings, but priority should be clear here. In addition, there are other toys besides the board game that are better suited to sex.
4. Sex Law: Because of bella Italia
For many people, Italy stands for hot feelings and wild romance alongside pasta, pizza and wine. But even there there are a few strange sex laws that are worth knowing for your next holiday in Bella Italia: In Italy, for example, you have to pay a fine of up to 300 euros if you are caught having a little sex on the beach.
Alternatively, a two-year prison sentence may also apply. On the other hand, if you attack each other in the car, there is nothing to complain about – provided the windows are tinted. Another goodie for your next trip to Italy: In Siena, women named Maria are not allowed to work as prostitutes.

5. Sex Law: Go to jail
One of the many highlights of Malaysia are the beautiful beaches. But don’t let the dream setting seduce you into having sex on the beach. Anyone caught having sex in public in Malaysia faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years – including a beating. That’s not worth a sweetheart’s lesson in the world.
6. Sex Law: It stays in the family
With this law, which exists in the Colombian city of Cali, only one word comes to mind: unpleasant! Because for a couple’s first time, the woman’s mother must be present in the same room. She is supposed to testify to her daughter’s virginity.
In Bolivia, on the other hand, there is a completely different mother-daughter story. There it is forbidden to have sex with a woman and her daughter at the same time.
7. Sex law: Family first
In Buthan, the family seems to come before pleasure: In the South Asian country, it is forbidden for the younger brother to have sex if the older one is still a virgin.
8. Sex-Gesetz: US and fucking A
But for all the oddities on this list, the US still has by far the most bizarre sex laws. No sex law screams America more than this one: In the US state of Wisconsin, firing a gun while having an orgasm is illegal. In Minnesota, meanwhile, it’s illegal to have sex with bad breath — or sleep naked.
The legal situation in Hawaii is also bizarre. If a man is caught having sex with a girl under 18, her parents have to go to jail. After all, they didn’t raise their daughter properly…
In Florida, a law states that you can only have sex in a missionary position. It is also forbidden to kiss a woman’s breasts. And in the city of Daytona Beach, it’s illegal to sexually harass trash cans. That Florida doesn’t legally have sex with a porcupine sounds reasonable (although, given this specificity, it’s questionable why other animals would be barred from the law). This bizarre law in West Virginia, on the other hand, is unreasonable: Sex with animals is permitted in the state – but they must not weigh more than 40 pounds.
