The narrative engine ignites on a late night in 1915. A clandestine ship departs from the port of San Francisco, shrouded in rumors so intense that local law enforcement refuses to approach the docks. Aboard this vessel hides Makoto Daito. Born to an American father and a Japanese mother, Daito experiences severe discrimination in the United States. He risks his life as a stowaway to reach his mother’s homeland, Japan.
Daito encounters Orpheus, the captain of the vessel, and Yu Shinjo, a fellow stowaway sharing similar displacement. These meetings permanently alter Daito’s trajectory across five cities and five distinct historical eras.
