The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 1st that it would strategically nominate former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae for Hanam-gap, Gyeonggi-do.

Ahn Gyu-baek, chairman of the Strategic Mission Committee, announced the nomination of former Minister Chu in an announcement this morning and said, “Hanam Gap can be said to be a rough terrain. “The party asked former Minister Chu to promote it, and he accepted it,” he said. Hanam, which had one constituency, was divided into Hanam G and E in this general election. Hanam incumbent Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Jong-yoon declared not to run.

The Democratic Party announced that it will strategically nominate Kim Yong-man, director of the Korean Provisional Government Memorial Association, the great-grandson of Baekbeom Kim Gu, for Hanam-eul, Gyeonggi-do. Park Hae-cheol, chairman of the National Federation of Public Industry Unions, was nominated for Ansanbyeong, Gyeonggi Province.

Former Hyundai Motor Company CEO Gong Young-woon was nominated for Hwaseong-eul, Gyeonggi Province. The incumbent in Hwaseong is Rep. Lee Won-wook, who left the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party announced that a ‘two-person primary’ will be held between lawyer Park Ji-hye, the No. 1 talent recruited from Uijeongbu-gap, Gyeonggi Province, and Moon Seok-gyun, chairman of the Uijeongbu branch of the Kim Dae-jung Foundation, the son of former National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang. This area is where former Chairman Moon Hee-sang was an active member, and in the 21st election, Representative Oh Young-hwan was elected but declared that he would not run.

When the Democratic Party made Attorney Park, the number one candidate to recruit, go through a ‘primary’ rather than a single nomination, and former Chairman Moon’s son became his opponent in the primary, even within the party, “There is no way that Attorney Park Ji-hye can beat branch president Moon Seok-gyun, who has been active in the region for a long time and even has a father figure behind him.” There was criticism that “the party has blatantly allowed hereditary succession in the district.” Chairman Moon prepared to run for office in this region during the last general election, but left the party when the ‘cutoff’ was decided.

The Democratic Party announced that former Supreme Council member Park Sung-min, former lawmaker Lee Eon-ju, and former Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation CEO Lee Heon-wook will hold a ‘three-person primary’ in Yonginjeong, Gyeonggi Province, where incumbent lawmaker Lee Tan-hee declared not to run.

In Gwangmyeong-eul, there will be a ‘two-person primary’ between incumbent lawmaker Yang Ki-dae and lawyer Kim Nam-hee, who was active in the ‘Kim Eun-kyung Innovation Committee’ last year. Pro-Myung faction lawmaker Yang Lee Won-young, who had prepared to run for office in this region, was cut off.

In Uijeongbu-eul, the constituency of Rep. Kim Min-cheol, who was excluded from nomination, a three-person primary will be held between Party Representative’s Office of Political Planning Director Kwon Hyuk-ki, former Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor for Peace Lee Jae-gang, and preliminary candidate Lim Geun-jae.

In Namdong-eul, Incheon, which is the constituency of Rep. Yoon Kwan-seok, who left the party, candidates Lee Byeong-rae and Bae Tae-jun, and in Sejong Gap, where Rep. Hong Seong-guk declared that he will not run, candidates Lee Kang-jin, Lee Young-seon, Noh Jong-yong, and Park Beom-jong will each compete. In Hwaseongjeong, there are three candidates competing in the primary: Rep. Yong-ki Yong, a proportional representative, Seok-beom Jin, former head of the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation, and Dae-hyun Cho, former Blue House administrator.

Candidates Son Hoon-mo and Kim Moon-soo will compete in Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, and Gurye-gap, Jeollanam-do, which are constituencies of Rep. So Byeong-cheol, who declared that he will not run. Candidates Song Jae-bong and Shin Yong-han will compete in Cheongju and Cheongwon, North Chungcheong Province, where Rep. Jae-il Byun, who was excluded from nomination, is currently serving.
