It’s almost the end of the soap opera that has been driving the music industry for more than a year, and as in the best series, as the ending approaches, the suspense remains at its peak. According to our information, the Ministry of Culture is due to bring together players in the music industry on Monday at 4 p.m., in order to present the results of the consultations which aimed to find a solution to finance the National Music Center (CNM). Created in January 2020, the Center, until now mainly supported by the State and a tax on show tickets, must indeed sustain its resources.

During the last music festival, President Emmanuel Macron announced that, in the absence of an agreement at the end of September, the government might refer the matter to Parliament and propose a “compulsory contribution from streaming platforms”, according to the Elysée press release. The different actors were heard by the Ministry of Culture in July, without negotiating among themselves, and responded to a long questionnaire during August. They should be presented on Monday with the option chosen by the ministry to finance the CNM. Contacted, rue de Valois did not wish to comment.
