Wave of Russian strikes on electrical installations in several Ukrainian cities
Ukraine on Tuesday announced bombings of electrical installations in several major cities, including kyiv, the day following deadly Russian attacks using suicide drones on the capital.
The mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, announced on Telegram that new explosions had taken place in the Ukrainian capital. He specified that they had been heard in the district of Desnianskyi and had affected “a critical infrastructure facility”. “All services are on site”he wrote once more.
For his part, Kirill Timoshenko, a close adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, said in a message posted on a social network: “According to the first elements, [il y a eu] three strikes on electrical installations” east of Kyiv.
Mr. Timoshenko added that two other strikes hit energy infrastructure in the city of Dnipro, causing “serious damage”. Several districts of this city in the center-east of the country are without electricity, according to the local governor.
Other bombardments hit the city of Zhytomyr, located west of kyiv, according to Mr. Timoshenko. According to the mayor of this commune, Serhiy Soukhomlyn, two Russian strikes on a power plant caused power and water cuts there. “Hospitals are on backup power”he said on Telegram.
In the northeast, a ” industrial enterprise “ located in Ukraine’s second city, Kharkiv, was also hit, according to its mayor, Ihor Terekhov. “In five minutes, there were two series of explosions in the city”he explained.
