Strikingly realistic scene on Unreal Engine 5 with tracing

Environment and object artist Daniel Martinger has shared screenshots and videos of his latest work done in Unreal Engine 5. These footage represents an astonishing level of detail and believability made possible by the use of path tracing technology.

The quality is so high that it even surpasses the work done on the Matrix Awakens tech demo. Everything from materials to lighting looks almost like photographs. Artificial origin give only minor artifacts.

It’s not worth counting on games to look like this in the near future – most gamers simply do not have enough performance to run this in real time. However, following a couple of generations of video cards and the launch of new consoles or analogues, it will come to this. True, not all games need realism.
