125 people were arrested when Dutch police moved in to stop a pro-Palestinian student protest at the University of Amsterdam on Tuesday night.
Images in Dutch media show protesters throwing fireworks at police, who used batons to disperse the protesters.
The police say they had to demolish the camp to restore peace and order on the university campus.
In France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium, students have also launched protest actions in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and demanding that the universities break all possible links with Israel.
Hunger strikes
In France, the police have intervened several times in recent days at the elite university Sciences Po, where protesters are demanding that the university make public which Israeli institutions it collaborates with.
13 students have also started a hunger strike, according to the university.
In Berlin, nearly 100 students at Freie Universität have established a protest camp against the war in Gaza. The students are calling for the occupation of universities across Germany in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip.
The university was quick to demand that the students end the protest, after it began on Tuesday.
On Friday, around 150 demonstrators took part in a protest at Humboldt University in Berlin. Following this, the police have started an investigation into what they suspect are 37 cases of incitement to hatred and opposing police orders.
Spreads
In Switzerland, the protests have spread to several universities. Students at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) were the first to mobilize, as several hundred students occupied a hall on Thursday and demanded an end to the university’s partnership with Israeli universities.
On Tuesday, there were similar actions at the EPFL University in Lausanne, the University of Geneva and the ETH in Zurich, where students chanted “Free Palestine” and rolled out large banners with slogans before being removed by the police.
In Belgium, over 100 students took part in an action at Ghent University on Tuesday.
