Stunning new images of Mars from an orbiter

On the occasion of New Year’s Day in 2022, the China National Space Administration has released a set of wonderful images transmitted by the Chinese probe Tianwen-1 from Mars The distant, and the probe’s journey is China’s first Mars exploration mission. This group of photos includes a group photo of the Chinese orbiter and the planet Mars, and a local close-up of the orbiter, and the ice sheets of a planet at the north pole of Mars, and contains pictures of the shape of the surface of fire on the planet that Image by the “Chorong” probe, which shows the working status of the orbiter, the “Chorong” spacecraft and the acquired surface shape of Mars.

In its statement, the Chinese Space Agency stated that the probe will operate in the orbit of Mars over a period of 526 days, at a distance of 3.5 million km from Earth, and the image transmission period took about 19.5 minutes.

So far, the probe has operated on the surface of Mars for 225 sols, with a cumulative travel of more than 1,400 metres. At present, the Tianwen-1 mission is carrying out exploration and related tests as planned, and it has returned a total of about 560GB of raw scientific data, and the two machines are in good condition and operating normally.

The Chinese probe was launched on July 23, 2020, from the Wenchang spaceport in southern China, using the CZ-5 heavy launch vehicle, and after landing the landing module, the orbital probe will continue to move around Mars, completing a full orbit around the planet within two Mars days ( 24 hours 39 minutes), and the main mission of this probe is to relay information from the Chinese Mars rover.
