VfB Stuttgart’s successful run in the German Bundesliga continues. The Swabians defeated SV Darmstadt 98 3-1 (2-1) at the start of the fifth round on Friday evening and celebrated their fourth victory.
With twelve points, the Stuttgart team jumped past Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig into first place ahead of the further league games on Saturday and Sunday. Darmstadt is last.
The game didn’t start badly for the “Lilien”, with Austrians Mathias Honsak, Christoph Klarer and Emir Karic in the starting line-up. An own goal from Stuttgart’s Dan-Axel Zagadou put the guests in the lead (17th). But Enzo Millot (22nd) and Serhou Guirassy with his goals nine and ten this season (32nd, 92nd) turned the game in VfB’s favor.
