Styrian advance – Up to ten euros per square meter for empty apartments

Submission “important and justified”
Up to ten euros per square meter and year will be due in the future for second homes and vacant apartments – a levy that is “important and justified”, said Erwin Dirnberger, President of the Association of Municipalities and MP of the ÖVP, according to ORF: “The original aim of this levy is that existing living space is used before new ones have to be built.” Dirnberger considers the amount of the contribution to be “legitimate” when it comes to obliging citizens to “make a solidary contribution to the community.” However: communities are free to do so decide whether to include them.
