Schweizer landed in Zell am See on Saturday after six days and six hours and celebrated his eighth victory in the adventure race across the Alps.
The Swiss Chrigel Maurer continued his winning streak in the X-Alps and won the paragliding adventure race for the eighth time on Saturday. It took the 40-year-old just six days and six hours to cover the route from Kitzbühel via Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy to Zell am See, setting the fastest time in the race’s 20-year history. “It’s incredible to be here after such a short time and some challenging moments. When I crossed the main ridge with my team, it was incredible,” explained Maurer after the final landing.
Exciting decision about the podium places
The lead changed hands between different athletes several times throughout the race, but in the end it was the Swiss who established the decisive advantage in the last few days. The Swiss Patrick von Känel, the Hungarian Pal Takats, the French Damien Lacaze and Maxime Pinot as well as the best Austrian, Simon Oberrauner, are fighting for the other places on the podium.
