Munich: 12 players on a team in the German Bundesliga are on the field at the same time when the referees miss. In the match against Freiburg, 12 players hit the ball for Bayern Munich for 20 seconds.
The incident happened in the 80th minute of the match. Bayern made a double substitution to take a 3-1 lead. Corinthian Tolisso was replaced by Nicholas Sullivan and Kingsley Koman was replaced by Marcel Sabitzer. Common did not log in because his number was not shown. This is the reason why 12 players remain on the field. The referee came to know about it when Freiburg defender Nico Schlotterbeck noticed it. With this, the game was stopped and the problem was solved by getting Koman. The confusion was caused by a fault in the electronic substitution board.
Instead of Koman’s number 11, the number 29 on the board was clear. There was no Bayern player on such a number. However, football experts point out that it was the fault of the referees who allowed another player to step down without making sure that someone on the field got on. Bayern won the match 4-1.
