Juarez City.- A three-year-old girl who suffered burns to 70 percent of her body due to an explosion accident was transported to Sacramento, California, by the Children’s Specialty Hospital (HIES), in collaboration with the Shriners Club of Ciudad Juárez.

According to the Ministry of Health, the transfer was carried out in a record time of less than 12 hours by the HIES, since it managed to manage the patient’s departure in a timely manner.

The minor, who is from Ascensión, Chihuahua, was admitted on September 30, and thanks to the quick attention of the doctors and the philanthropic organization, she was sent to the United States on October 1, it was reported.

Dr. Yesica Ortega, director of the hospital, said that the pertinent steps were taken so that the procedures could be released in less than 12 hours.

“We coordinated with them to carry out the administrative procedures to offer the minor specialized care (…) We are very grateful to Shriners because they carried out the procedures with the Consulate and so that the minor can receive treatments at a specialized hospital for burned children in this magnitude,” said the hospital director.

For his part, pediatrician José Flores, international outreach liaison, stated that there is an ally in the HIES of this town for the care of minors.

He stressed that he hopes that this event serves as a watershed so that agile channels remain in the future for the benefit of children.

“When we found out, we contacted the hospital staff to activate the protocols that are in place for these cases so that the case could be presented to the different Shriners hospitals. Fortunately, it was accepted at the Sacramento hospital (…) In less than 12 hours after the event occurred, it was already accepted by the medical staff,” said the expert.

The girl was transported in an URGE ambulance to the Abraham González airport, where she was picked up by the aerial care vehicle bound for the neighboring country.
