On January 2, 2022, the eight-year-old son and his sister were sleeping in their mother’s bed, next to which was a bottle of “Oasis”, filled with ammonia. The young boy drank it before spitting it all out. He then complained of a burning sensation. His mother then rinsed his mouth out with water, called the poison control center and took him to the hospital. On the spot, the doctors found that the young boy had burns in the mouth because of the ammonia, but that his stomach and his esophagus had not been affected. The child was able to return home after spending a night in the hospital.
The court finds that the mother was negligent in leaving the dangerous liquid within reach of her children. Nevertheless, he believes that it avoided greater harm thanks to its rapid reaction. Apart from a conviction for acts related to drugs, pronounced in 2007, the person concerned had a clean criminal record.
