Aggressive, catchy and always very intense, SUJIN’s debut album aims to break down the boundaries and take the classic melo-death sound to the next level, embracing deathcore, progressive, thrash and even mainstream metal in the process.

Officially founded only last year, some of the members of SUJIN from France under the banner WHISPER NIGHT since 2014 and have therefore already gained a lot of experience. And after two singles that were released last year, they are now starting with their debut “Save Our Souls”.

Melodic death with a thrashy to core edge, a lot of tempo, pleasing melodies and harsh, rough vocals dominate the sound of the men from Laval, who were inspired by many a Scandinavian legend, but hardly show any direct cross-references. Nevertheless, early ones are IN FLAMES or AT THE GATES probably the biggest influence here.

In addition to the catchy guitar melodies, clean choirs ensure recognition and catchiness in the mostly furious and dynamic tempo of the ambitious Frenchman’s debut work. Between fast-paced death/thrash and catchy, partly atmospheric melo-death of a more modern style, there are exciting songs here that encourage you to headbang and go crazy and then more to wallow and sing along, as you always build ones that are hymn-like to epic in nature choruses.

The work is also based on a socially critical, post-apocalyptic concept, which you can clearly hear in the band’s epic-dystopian sound: „A pre-apocalyptic landscape where the last bastion of mankind took refuge on a gigantic tree; the sparkling triangle is the last power source of this broken world. It’s a strong symbol of rebellion and a message of revolt and hope from Sujin, whose members are personally committed to the preservation and defense of Nature.”, and is also reflected in the artwork and titles such as “Dead World Beyond” or “Winter Breeze”.

“Save Our Souls” is ripe, well produced and hardly suggests that you are dealing with real newcomers here. Almost a must-have for fans of modern melodic death metal!
