NATIONAL – Summer time will start again on the night from Saturday to Sunday: at 2 a.m. the clock must be set forward one hour to 3 a.m. Daylight saving time lasts until the last weekend of October. Summer time has been introduced to save energy and to enjoy the light longer. The Netherlands has had a difference between summer and winter time since 1916.

There was no daylight saving time between 1946 and 1977. Then daylight saving time was reintroduced due to the oil crisis. The influence on the body is one of the reasons why there was talk of abolishing summer and winter time for a while. This plan has been shelved again. According to the government, more research needs to be done.
