PHOENIX — After asking the big names in the Philadelphia Eagles for about 40 minutes on Monday night, we got into a fun game of “Where’s Marcus Brady?” »

It was far from won as a goal since there is a real crush during the always entertaining media night for the Super Bowl.

It was worth a try because, just three months after being fired as offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, Brady could become a Super Bowl champion.

The second round of the Footprint Center surface will have been the good one. And surprise, we found Brady in the middle of a discussion with his friend, and former teammate of the Montreal Alouettes, Davis Sanchez, who works as an analyst at TSN.

“Looks like a Montreal Connections meeting,” Brady said with a smile when we approached him.

The last few months have allowed Brady to take the hit, and he can only be delighted to have quickly embarked on the adventure of the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Unfortunately things didn’t move in the right direction in Indianapolis and I lost my job,” Brady said.

“But Nick (Sirianni, the Eagles coach) called me the same day to ask if I still wanted to work. He said to me, ‘I have something to offer you’”, he chained.

With the Colts, Brady had been the quarterbacks coach while Sirianni led the offense. Brady then succeeded him when he accepted the reins of the Eagles.

“I thought about it for less than 24 hours, called him back and told him I wanted to jump into this project with him. Now I try to help her as best I can. Yeah, that was quick,” he admitted to RDS.ca with a laugh.

Officially, Brady carries the title of offensive consultant in Philadelphia. However, he spends most of his time offering advice to defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

“I watch videos of opposing attacks, I study their approaches and tendencies. I give my perspective on what the teams are trying to accomplish offensively. The goal is to see if I can detect interesting things to pass on to him,” explained the man who was quarterback, receivers coach and offensive coordinator for the Alouettes.

The next question was easy to draw. She was referring to the immense task that therefore rests in her hands to dissect the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive unit led by a magician named Patrick Mahomes.

“Oh yes, that’s quite a challenge. It’s a very talented and productive attack, ”reacted Brady who does not want to believe that this is a good time to face Mahomes because of his right ankle injury.

“Well, he had two weeks to prepare. A guy like him is obviously going to play top-level football, we know that. »

The Eagles attack will have to compete with Mahomes. Since the beginning of the playoff course, Philadelphia has not had to engage the maximum speed on the offensive side while the ground game has been sufficient to control the action. This time, quarterback Jalen Hurts will no doubt have to hit back at his opponent.

Without directing Hurts directly, Brady observes him closely with his eyes of a specialist in this position.

“I saw him develop, I remember him coming from the college ranks and he was able to kick his game up a few notches. He works hard every day and he progresses in several chapters. His way of directing the attack is impressive, we can see that he is improving there. I can’t wait to see him bring it all to fruition on Sunday,” Brady said.

“His evolution really starts from his work ethic. It’s simple, he wants to become one of the best in the NFL. So he invests the time, he is an athlete who accepts to be supervised by coaches and he has done a phenomenal job so far, ”continued the 43-year-old coach.

Having been able to listen to Sirianni answer a panoply of questions on serious subjects and other lighter ones, we understand why Hurts has the taste to follow his command.

Coming back to Brady, what follows will be interesting. He was considered for the position of offensive coordinator with the New York Jets and it is assumed that he will have other interviews.

“We’ll see what happens, but I clearly enjoy working in this organization. It will be to determine what their needs are,” Brady said.

For the moment, Brady still seems fascinated by the turnaround experienced this year.

“It’s so special to be at the Super Bowl. Let’s say that it was an interesting course to say the least, if we can say that, and especially this season. I am grateful for this opportunity, to be surrounded by good people, ”commented the one who learned under the orders of Marc Trestman and Scott Milanovich.

This week, and especially Sunday, Brady will make sure to bring more good times to his family. His 18-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son are following him closely in his sporting career and they love to accompany him on the sidelines before games.
