The supermarket chain Walmart Chile announced that it will freeze the prices of 53 products of the basic basket from this month until next September 28 at all Lider and Lider Express stores, along with the online shopping page, located between the cities of Arica to Punta Arenas.
The measure will consider the categories of meat, rice, milk, noodles, detergent, dishwasher, fruits and vegetablesamong others, in order to contribute “to the budget of thousands of families in the midst of the inflationary crisis,” as indicated in a statement.
The initiative is part of the new version of “Prices that do not touch” and the products considered “were selected taking as a reference the basic basket” prepared by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Ministry of Social Development, together with the customer preferences.
The CEO of Walmart Chile, Gonzalo Gebara, explained that they seek to “give customers peace of mind that, for the next four months, the prices of the products included in this basic basket will be maintained and they can only be modified to lower them”.
