Supersalud confirmed that 14 EPS are in the process of liquidation

The National Superintendency of Health confirmed that currently in the country there are 14 EPS that are in the process of liquidation for putting at risk both the lives of their affiliates as the financial stability of its provision networks.

According to the Superintendent, Fabio Aristizábal Ángel, these decisions demonstrate the purification of the health system and the dignified treatment for millions of users, he said this Tuesday in the framework of an accountability of the entity in the last year.

“Since our arrival at the Superintendency we knew that it would not be easy to straighten the path, but after intense work we can say that we got back on track with health because we gave priority to the needs of users. We leave a purified and strengthened system“, he pointed.

Only between July 2021 and June 2022 the Supersalud ordered the liquidation of the EPS Share, Coomeva and Medimásas well as the taking of possession and the forced intervention to manage the EPS Emssanar.

Another indicator that can show the problems in the country’s health system is the number of petitions, complaints, claims and reports registered in the last year, which amounted to 1,128,122that is, on average each day SuperSalud received 3,000 complaints about the health service from Colombians.

In the last four years, SuperSalud has treated more than 7 million PQRD, a significant growth in relation to the previous four-year period, which was 3.1 million, according to the entity’s report.

Recovered Resources

According to the balance of SuperSalud, in the last year nearly one billion pesos were recovered from the public and private provision network, through resource flow tables and conciliation sessions. Throughout these four years More than 15,000 lending institutions throughout the country benefitedwith resources of about 3.3 billion pesos.

Likewise, the Superintendent highlighted the recovery process of 21 public hospitals. Three of them were returned to the departmental administrations and 17 are in a forced intervention measure and one is under special surveillance.
