(Alliance News) – Dekel Agri-Vision PLC said on Friday that production of crude palm and palm kernel oil soared in August compared to the previous year.

The West Africa-focused agricultural company said crude palm oil production at its Ayenouan palm oil project in Ivory Coast was 38% higher in August at 1,416 tonnes versus 1,024 tonnes the previous year, while CPO sales increased 56% to 1,786 tonnes from 1,148.

Palm kernel oil production tripled to 185 tonnes in August, compared to 90 tonnes in the same month the previous year. PKO sales increased 815-fold from 67 tons a year ago, reflecting “higher-than-normal inventory clearance at the end [du premier semestre 2023] resulting from the significant late peak of the recent high production season,” Dekel Agri-Vision said.

Executive Director Lincoln Moore said: “We are pleased to record our sixth consecutive month of higher CPO production compared to last year. With strong CPO and PKO sales volumes, the monthly financial performance of palm oil operation during the [second semestre 2023] continues to be ahead of the [second semestre 2022].”

Shares in Dekel Agri-Vision were up 3.7% at 3.11 pence each in London on Friday morning.
