A new scroll to his political career added this afternoon the deputy René Alinco (independent-PPD).
The parliamentarian of the Aysén Region was elected in a divided vote as the new president of the Control Commission of the State Intelligence System.
This body, created by law and made up of only seven deputies, is in charge of supervising and supervising the work of the different national intelligence agencies, especially the ANI (National Intelligence Agency).
Despite the supposed agreement of the ruling parties was to support the nomination of deputy Jorge Brito (RD), Alinco was imposed surprisingly by having the support of right-wing legislators.
In favor of the Patagonian deputy they voted RN Miguel Mellado, Republican Stephan Schubert and independent-UDI Álvaro Carter. Nevertheless, the casting vote was Alinco himself, who voted for himself.
For his part, Brito had his vote, that of Luis Cuello (PC) and that of Tomás de Rementería (PS).
The fact annoyed the Broad Front bench that even presented a claim to the independent PPD committee, of which Alico is a part, since it would call into question the governance agreement of the entire Chamber of Deputies.
In fact, before the installation of this commission, which met for the first time in this legislative period, all the parliamentarians from the ruling parties had promised to support Brito by virtue of the governability pact.
That agreement establishes a rotation of the presidency of the Chamber and at the same time regulates the distribution of quotas in the different legislative commissions.
“This was filthy, in particular from the person in question (René Alinco)”, accused Brito, who specified that the independent bench-PPD would not have responsibility, but demanded that Alinco be removed from the Intelligence Commission.
“Your group still does not have responsibility to the extent that they remove it from the (Intelligence) commission and replace it with someone who honors the word given and who is willing to carry out their work of monitoring the intelligence units with the rigor that is required”, added the RD legislator.
Brito commented that in view of the adjustments that are being applied in the Intelligence System, people are required who “are good for the hit and, in addition, know what matters must be honored.” “I have no doubt that whoever is circumstantially in charge of the commission does not meet these criteria and, the best example, is that five minutes before the session he said one thing and then ended up being elected with the votes of the right, of the extreme right and of himself”, he concluded.
