Territorial director at Pôle emploi, Fabrice Herbert communicates on the data collected as part of the survey on labor needs in Haute-Marne in 2023.

Each year, a survey on labor needs is published. Distributed in the spring, this document makes it possible to know the trends of the employment market, to identify the sectors in tension, to adapt the training courses offered locally and to guide the activities organized by the advisers of Pôle emploi. Administered by the Research Center for the Study and Observation of Living Conditions (Crédoc), this survey was sent to companies at the end of 2022. The results were consolidated at the beginning of 2023 and the restitution is in progress. The synthesis is accessible for everyone on the “pole-emploi.org” website.

Mostly non-seasonal jobs

In Haute-Marne, nearly 5,600 recruitment projects have been counted for 2023. More than 43% of these projects are issued by companies with fewer than ten employees. In the detail of the figures, 2,095 recruitments concern the Saint-Dizier employment area; 2,156 that of Chaumont; 1,320 for the Langres basin.

The agricultural and market gardening professions are also recruiting.

Around 57% of recruitment relates to services, both for natural and legal persons. Nearly three quarters of the people sought are for non-seasonal jobs for the trades: home help and housekeeper (213 positions), versatile employment in the kitchen (167 positions), caregiver (133 positions) , truck driver (131 positions) and self-service employee (128 positions).

Around 40% of these employees are sought for open-ended contracts (CDI).

When it gets stuck

According to employers, 60% of recruitment projects are considered difficult. A sentiment up nearly three points compared to last year. The most complicated sectors are those of agriculture, services to businesses or individuals. The following are particularly sought after: electricians, project managers in the construction industry, lumberjacks and pruners, draftsmen in the building sector.

In some jobs – the catering sector in particular – staggered hours or the image of the profession complicate recruitment. The recruitment difficulties observed concern the lack of potential candidates (in 85% of cases), inadequate profiles (79% of cases), working conditions, the organization of recruitment and mobility concerns.

The Pôle emploi teams strive to propose solutions to ensure that supply and demand are matched. Finding solutions to recruitment difficulties may involve: training candidates, making offers more attractive or organizing targeted actions such as “recruitment by simulation”. Pôle emploi Grand Est has 525 advisers dedicated to companies in the Region and sets up operations dedicated to jobs in tension. Actions are also organized with the professional branches and pools of candidates ready to be hired are defined. Added to this are training actions: 3,085 job seekers benefited from them in 2022 in Haute-Marne.

Even with a lack of qualifications or long periods of unemployment, “beautiful stories are still written regularly” thanks to the work of Pôle emploi advisers, recalled Viviane Guery, assistant to Fabrice Herbert in Haute-Marne.
