The social affairs and environment correspondent for the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Yuval Pagano, said, “There is a 90% increase in the use of psychoactive medications following the trauma that many Israelis have experienced since the outbreak of war.”

He stated that “the Israeli Public Health Association reported a sharp increase in requests submitted to it from Israelis seeking help from psychological specialists due to addiction to these medications.”

Earlier, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” quoted public health services as saying that in the month of October, the number of prescriptions for nerve-calming medications and medications related to psychological illnesses and panic treatment increased by 11% compared to the previous month.

Likewise, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that “direct exposure to attack led to a three-fold increase in the risk of psychological disorders.”

She said that after two months of war, “many people are suffering from distress or psychological crisis. Some are struggling to return to routine, and others are suffering from psychological disorders and constant pain.”

After about a month of war, the Wallah website revealed that there had been at least a 6-fold increase in phone calls seeking psychological help.

This situation is not limited to settlers only, but also includes Israeli army soldiers, as the Israeli newspaper Maariv spoke about the psychological and physical problems that the occupation soldiers, especially the reserves, suffer from as a result of the war on Gaza.

The newspaper said that “sadness and sorrow appear on soldiers in different ways, such as physical and psychological symptoms that include difficulties in sleeping and breathing and poor appetite,” and that “reservist soldiers returning from war battles to the world of work may suffer from psychological injuries as a result of the events in which they were present, in addition to Physical injuries.”
