An investigation is opened following suspicions of racist insults uttered on the sidelines of the heifers fight of “Bagnes, capital of raclette”, last Saturday in Le Châble (VS).

According to her husband, his wife was treated as a “negress”, reports Rhône FM. Everything degenerated on Saturday around 6 p.m. when a cow almost fell into the water, on the sidelines of the fighting. In anger, her owner insulted the couple, whose husband wanted to help her.

Hit several times

Believing the remarks suffered by his half as racist, the citizen of Martigny demanded an apology. In response, he was hit by three or four people. He suffers from bruises and is on sick leave. His wife was also beaten with sticks. “I have training as a bodyguard, it was impossible for me to fight,” the husband told our colleagues on Monday.

The man filed a complaint for assault and battery. The Valais cantonal police confirm the opening of an investigation, any discrimination and incitement to hatred being prosecuted automatically since the year 2020. Present, the children of the couple saw the whole scene. The whole family says they are shocked.
