Suzanne Clément in the daily newspaper that will replace District 31

The daily, which does not yet have a title or an official synopsis, will have the difficult task of taking up the torch of District 31, which will end on April 21. Suzanne Clément will play Emmanuelle Lacombe, an emergency physician in a large Montreal hospital. The series will be produced by Fabienne Larouche and Michel Trudeau, of Aetios Productions, as well as Guillaume Lespérance, of A Média.

If we’re here today, it’s really after much thought, said Fabienne Larouche during a press conference on Tuesday morning. The producer wasn’t planning on embarking on a daily news anytime soon after six demanding years with District 31.

She explained that she would not have accepted the challenge without the involvement of Radio-Canada, Marie-Andrée Labbé and Guillaume Lespérance, with whom she could share the tasks relating to the production of the series. We’re cracked, we have the sword between our teeth, and what we have to give, we’ll give it to youadded the producer.

Marie-Andrée Labbé notably wrote the “Trop” and “Sans rendez-vous” series.

Fueled by adrenaline

Suzanne Clément said for her part that she was extremely excited by this big dive, highlighting the audacity of Fabienne Larouche, with whom she worked in Unity 9where she played the role of Shandy during the first season, before it was taken over by Catherine-Anne Toupin.

Emergency physicians are people who run on adrenaline, which could be like me too. I think this is a project entirely for me. What I like is that it’s a big risk and it’s a format I’ve never touchedshe added.

The report by Nabi-Alexandre Chartier

Little is known about the plot yet, but Marie-Andrée Labbé has given some details. We are talking about a group of friends; doctors, attendants, surgeons, emergency physicians. These are people who work together, but who also see each other outside of work. Around that are grafted all the medical staff, […] patients and their familiesshe explained, adding that the pandemic would not be mentioned, except in a vague and distant way.

We made the decision that it would be a post-COVID world, that is to say that there will be no references to it strictly speaking. But the pandemic has shone the spotlight on the hospital environment, of which we have a new vision now, I cannot completely ignore it. It’s part of our DNA now.

Danièle Méthot, who is currently finishing District 31, will begin the adventure of this daily news with the production, but Fabienne Larouche affirms that there will also be directors and directors invited in the future. Production on the series is expected to begin around the beginning of July.
