The Polish Iga Swiatek greatly increased her lead at the top of the world hierarchy of women’s tennis thanks to her victory at Roland-Garros in the final against the American Cori Gauff, who is approaching the Top 10, in 13th place, his best ranking.
With 8,631 points, Swiatek, who became N.1 after the withdrawal of Australian Ashleigh Barty in early April and who remains on a series of 35 consecutive victories, now has more than 4,300 points ahead of the new N.2, the Estonian Anett Kontaveit, according to the WTA ranking published on Monday.
Yet eliminated in the first round at Roland-Garros, Kontaveit climbed three places, benefiting in particular from the enormous poor performance of Barbora Krejcikova, defending champion in Paris and also eliminated as soon as she entered the running by the Frenchwoman Diane Parry .
