The concerned official authorities were quick to act, following the report of finding medical waste dumped near the waste containers at the Al-Fawqa Gate in Sidon, which belong to one of the medical laboratories in the city.

The security forces opened an investigation into the incident, while the municipality of Sidon sent members of its police to the place, and the judicial and municipal doctors worked to communicate with the concerned laboratory department to clarify the matter. Immediately, the waste, which included medical tubes for blood examinations, urine and feces test boxes, and medical syringes, was removed from the place and transferred to Siniq, where it was allocated.

The “People’s Rescue Regiment” in Sidon, affiliated to the Marouf Saad Foundation, received a call from a citizen indicating that foul smells of blood had spread near a waste container at the gate above, so a car belonging to the rescue team moved immediately to the place, and this medical waste was found from pipes Hundreds of boxes and syringes and receipts for patients showing the name of the concerned laboratory, so the concerned authorities were informed of the judicial, medical and municipal authorities, and the issue was dealt with and the waste was removed from the place in order to preserve public safety.
