The couple announced the happy news in their joint podcast “Hazel Thomas Hörerlebnis”. But they don’t reveal too much. So it remains unknown whether her daughter will have a brother or sister and when the due date is set.
Just a few weeks ago, the 29-year-old spoke in an interview about the difficulties in reconciling family and work. “I think the best strategy is to make yourself a little bit superfluous as a mother and to be honestly happy if the child also has other caregivers. When the daycare is closed, a babysitter will come along. The hardest thing is the constant bad conscience, you have to turn it off, »she told the «Schweizer Illustrierte».
Brugger stands by his injured ego
The native of Cologne also stated that she was sobered up today when it came to being a mother. So she realized that in a heterosexual relationship where the woman gives birth to the baby, it’s not possible to split responsibility fifty-fifty. She is referring to the fact that the child naturally turns more to the person who is nurturing it. “I was annoyed with myself for not taking that into account, even though I am convinced that much more equality in parenting could be possible than is generally the case today.” The pressure of compatibility was extremely noticeable for her.
At some point she then capitulated, which caused her ego to suffer quite a bit. The feeling of having failed made her very difficult. «But firstly, failure is not permanent and secondly, it is not a bad thing. The sooner you recognize and accept your limitations, the better you can arrange your life within these limitations.”

On October 1, 2020, the Swiss presenter and comedienne surprised with the rare private message: she is having a child, she wrote on Instagram and posted a picture with a baby bump. “For everyone who thought that 2020 would only be shitty news – here’s something good: I’m pregnant!”, says Hazel.
Another good message followed in February: they were married, Hazel’s friend Thomas Spitzer wrote on Instagram – and had been for nine months. Captioning a series of wedding photos, he wrote: “Such an imperfect day, such a difficult time, so different from anything we planned, yet so beautiful. Nine months ago, shortly after the first lockdown and in a (literally) small circle, I got a wedding ring from Hazel and a Lego Ninjago figure from my godchild,” said the German.
