The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation has extended the contract of its coach Patrick Fischer and his assistant the Swede Tommy Albelin until 2026, i.e. after the World Championship which will take place in Switzerland in Zurich and Fribourg.

Two days after a tournament in Sweden, which ended in 3 defeats, the FSHG decided to make public the extension of the contract of the national coach and his assistant. Fischer is in his 9th season at the head of the Swiss team. He took over from Canadian Glen Hanlon, after a short interim from John Fust, in December 2015. He managed his first match on December 18 in the Arosa icehouse with a 2-1 success against Norway.

Fischer reached his peak with the silver medal at the 2018 World Championship in Copenhagen after a final lost on penalties against Sweden. His mission is now to best prepare the national team for the Olympic Games in Cortina and Milan and for the World Cup at home.
