Swiss Open Badminton; PV Sindhu crowned; Easy victory

India’s PV Sindhu wins Swiss Open women’s singles title In the final, Sindhu defeated Busanan Ongbamrungfane of Thailand. Score: 21-16, 21-8. This is Sindhu’s second singles title this season. In the semi-finals, Sindhu defeated Thailand’s Supanika Katathong to reach the final. With this, Sindhu holds the record of winning 16 of her 17 encounters with Busan.

In the 2019 Hong Kong Open, Sindhu lost to Busan. Pranoy lost in the final was a disappointment. Indonesian Jonathan Christie defeated Pranoy in the final. Score: 21-12, 21-18. In the semi-finals, India’s own K. Christie advanced to the final following defeating Srikanth. This was Pranoy’s first final since winning the US Open in 2017. In the semi – finals, the 26th ranked Pranoy defeated the world number 5 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia. Score: 21–19,19–21,21–18.
