Swiss Success at Cross-Country World Cup in Snowshoe: Nino Schurter, Marcel Guerrini, and Jolanda Neff shine in the podium ranks

The Swiss performed well during the cross-country World Cup round in Snowshoe (USA). Nino Schurter and Marcel Guerrini climbed onto the podium behind French winner Jordan Sarrou. Mathias Flückiger finished in 4th place.

On the selective and fast natural circuit of the West Virginia resort, the Swiss mountain bikers left the initiative to their rivals. It was finally in the final turn that the Frenchman managed to surprise the 37-year-old Grison to achieve his second success of the weekend, following his short-track victory.

With his 5th podium this season, Schurter increased his lead in the general classification before next weekend’s final at Mont Sainte-Anne (Canada). The record holder might win his 9th crown there.

Jolanda Neff 5e

On the women’s side, the Austrian Laura Stigger performed a nice solo number and resisted the return of the Frenchwoman Loana Lecomte (2nd) and the Italian Martina Berta (3rd) to sign her first success at this level over the Olympic distance.

The Swiss were unable to take part in the fight for victory. The best of them, Jolanda Neff, took 5th place, her best performance of the season.
