Swiss U21s on the Road to Paris: Qualification for 2024 Olympics

2023-06-22 16:41:15

For the second time in a row, Switzerland has qualified for the final round of the oldest juniors. After the preliminary round two years ago, it should now go at least one step further. Ardon Jashari, Fabian Rieder, and Zeki Amdouni. These three names alone show the quality of the Swiss U21s at the European Championships in Romania and Georgia (June 21 to July 8). The trio has already gained experience in the A-Nati and should lead the team in the finals.

In the preliminary round, the team of coach Patrick Framework will face Norway (June 22nd), Italy (June 25th) and France (June 28th). Switzerland has formulated the goal “Road to Paris”, so it wants to be among the top three teams and qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Norway is considered an outsider in Group D. The big names are missing among the Scandinavians. But the Swiss will not underestimate their first group opponent. On the one hand they lost a friendly once morest the Nordic countries last September 2:3, on the other hand Norway left Croatia behind in qualifying.
