Zurich (awp) – Nominal wages increased by 1.8% in the third quarter, as in the first and second, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) said on Tuesday. However, the increase should not be enough to offset inflation.
Economists consulted by AWP agree on an annual inflation rate of between 2.1% and 2.7% this year, with a majority around 2.2.
The provisional estimate of the annual increase in nominal wages is given at the end of each quarter, before the Swiss wage index (ISS) is published in April. This annual indicator also includes the 13th salary.
