More throughput from 2024

On December 16, 2022, the Federal Council adopted the revision of the Ordinance on Telecommunications Services (OST), which redefines the content of universal service from 2024. As soon as the changes come into force, customers of the service universal will be able to choose between the old Internet access service (transmission rate of 10 Mbit/s for downloading and 1 Mbit/s for uploading) and the new one (80 Mbits/sec and 8 Mbits/sec), is he recalled in the same text.

Indeed, the revised ordinance explicitly admits the principle of subsidiarity: if a comparable offer is already available for the customer on the market, the universal service obligation is considered to have been fulfilled and the concessionaire is not required to propose an offer universal service at 80/8 Mbits/sec.
