Association Vaud Promotion has been targeted by a yellow gang active in ransomware attacks. Data has been stolen.
A series of cyberattacks hit Switzerland this spring. The Vaud Promotion Association adds to the list of victims. The organization which works to increase the notoriety, competitiveness and attractiveness of the canton of Vaud by means of the “VAUD+” brand announced that these servers were targeted by cyberhackers on the night of Tuesday June 6, 2023.
A crisis unit was immediately set up, in collaboration with cybersecurity experts, and a criminal complaint was filed. The association indicates that data has been stolen. Some applications are unavailable and, although business continuity is maintained, some requests may take longer to process, specifies Vaud Promotion.
According to the inside-IT.ch site, the recently emerged Darkrace gang claimed responsibility for the attack on the dark web. Vaud Promotion would be the first Swiss victim of this group of cybercriminals specializing in ransomware attacks.
