Céline Naef (WTA 165) has a lot to celebrate at the moment. Two weeks ago she beat Venus Williams at her WTA premiere in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Just a few days later, she turned 18 and is now in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career – and that in Wimbledon.

The native of Schwyz beat the Ukrainian Dajana Jastremska (WTA 152) 6:2, 3:6 and 6:4 in the third qualifying round. The young Swiss exceeds all expectations.

In addition to Naef, Simona Waltert (WTA 115) and Viktorija Golubic (WTA 138) also survived the qualification. The world number 115. Dominic Stricker is in a main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time. The 20-year-old from Bern (ATP 117) earned a place in the main draw at Wimbledon thanks to wins over Steve Johnson (ATP 217), Juan Pablo Ficovich (ATP 243) and Mattia Bellucci (ATP 160).

Stricker defeated the Italian Bellucci in four sets in the third round of qualifying on Thursday with 6:3, 1:6, 6:3, 6:4. The previous two rounds had been played over two winning sets. Also in Wimbledon are Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 83) and Stan Wawrinka (ATP 87).
