Switzerland: the Belgian and the French missing in Valais would have died

Monday, earlier in the day, the two people who disappeared in the mountains between Ovronnaz and Fully had been located. The Valais cantonal police indicated that they had found concrete elements at the scene of an avalanche and were continuing their efforts to recover the bodies.

The cantonal police had been notified on Wednesday by third parties of the disappearance of these two people, a French national residing in the canton of Vaud as well as a Belgian national residing in Valais, both aged 42. The Public Ministry opened an investigation.

Many land and air resources have been deployed since the announcement of the disappearances. The operation made it possible “to find concrete elements on an avalanche having started in the region of Chavalard above Fully”, specified the police in a press release. The sector concerned being particularly dangerous, the police “prohibited anyone from approaching the site”.
