Qualified for the first time for the round of 16 of the Euro Ladies, Switzerland finds itself in front of a mountain to climb. The Netherlands will be the huge favorites for Sunday’s match in Florence (6:00 p.m. on RTS 2).

Qualified on the green carpet due to the exclusion of Russia, Switzerland did more than hold its rank. And by beating Romania and Croatia, they clinched their ticket to the knockout stage.
A position d’outsider
But the next step seems too high for Lauren Bertolacci’s proteges. The Netherlands were European champions in 1995 and finalists in 2015 and 2017. They finished 4th and 5th in the last two editions of the Euro.
Maja Storck isn’t unhappy with Switzerland’s underdog position on Sunday. “I think they’re going to underestimate us a bit. We will have to play our best volleyball. But what is beautiful is that we have nothing to lose.“
