Richardson set a personal best time of her career to continue her strong start to a season that will highlight the World Championships in Budapest in August.

She recorded a time of 10.76 seconds at the Doha Diamond League meeting on May 5, a month following she achieved 10.57 seconds, but with the help of winds in Florida.

Thursday surpassed the best time this year, which was for Ivory Coast Marie-José Ta Lou, which she achieved in the middle of last month (10.75 s).

Richardson was denied participation in the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021 due to her marijuana consumption, and she did not qualify for the World Championships last year following failing in the American trials.

The 23-year-old, who has said this season she wants to make up for lost time, preferred not to talk regarding her performance in order to focus on Friday’s semi-finals and finals.

Only female runners who finish in the top three qualify for the World Finals.
