The manufacturer Synology has just released a new version of its internal software for router SRM 1.3.1 for its routers RT2600ac et MR2200ac. As with the RT6600ax, this is a Release Candidate version. It’s not the final version, but it’s the closest thing to it.

As a reminder, SRM 1.3.1 RC has already been around for several weeks. About 1 month ago, Synology had already released this version for the new router RT6600ax (read the article). From now on, the 3 routers are at the same level. Let’s take a closer look at the contents of the changelog. First of all, we find the long-awaited new features:
- New installation wizard;
- Redesigned login page style;
- VLAN support and other relevant SRM 1.3 functions (not specified) for RT2600ac and MR2200ac;
- Added use of RT2600ac as Wi-Fi point in mesh Wi-Fi system,
- Support mesh Wi-Fi system compatibility between RT6600ax, RT2600ac and MR2200ac;
- Improved device startup speed;
- Improved device name recognition accuracy.
That’s it for the new stuff. SRM 1.3.1 also fixes several more or less annoying little things:
- A problem with DoH (DNS over HTTPS) could get incorrect IP addresses;
- The version of the IGMP proxy could sometimes be incorrect;
- DDNS may not update automatically;
- Encrypted folders might not open properly;
- DHCP sometimes had a problem adding new reserved clients;
- Wi-Fi connection may not be stable when an RT2600ac is added to the mesh Wi-Fi system;
- An IPv6 network might not function normally when a KPN profile was used;
- Several security vulnerabilities (Synology-SA-22:09).
- Adjusted MR2200ac light intensity display rules.
- Fixed minor bugs.
Not bad is not it ? Finally, Synology indicates that there are also restrictions with SRM 1.3.1 RC:
- MR2200ac with SRM 1.2 or earlier is not compatible with RT6600ax in mesh Wi-Fi system;
- SRM 1.3 and above are only compatible with DS router app 2.0 and above;
- Wireless repeater mode (WDS mode) is not supported;
- Restoring configurations between SRM 1.2 and SRM 1.3 is not supported;
- The Smart Connect Scheme function is not supported;
- Wi-Fi performance test is not supported;
- Cloud Station is not supported.

We imagine that the owners of RT2600ac and MR2200ac were impatient to finally have information on SRM 1.3 for their products. However, keep in mind that this is a Release Candidate and that this version may still contain Bugs. Moreover, an SRM 1.3 version had been put online this morning… before being withdrawn a few minutes later. However, we can imagine your impatience. To get SRM 1.3.1 RC, you can always download the .pat file directly from the official site. The files are not available through the archive site. The weight of the .PAT file for the RT2600ac is 204 MB and that for the MR2200ac displays 203 MB. As a reminder, if you have a mesh network (RT2600ac and MR2200ac) you will have to download and send the 2 files from the Control Panel > System via SRM’s Manual Update button. The installation is quite long and requires a restart of the devices.
Now only the RT1900ac remains stuck in SRM version 1.2.x. The latest update (SRM 1.2.5 update 5) dated May 12th.
