A top Jordanian diplomat told the Associated Press news agency that Arab nations are trying to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The representatives of Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Jordan held a meeting last week at the initiative of Jordan. The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abul Ghiz, said that Bashar al-Assad could participate in the Arab League summit held this month.
The new move is also evaluated as a continuation of the restoration of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which supported the opposing parties in the Syrian conflict, through the mediation of China. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud visited Damascus last month. Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi also visited Damascus last week.
