Táchira and Caracas equalized in the first classic of the year

In a game that lived up to what corresponds to a classic, Deportivo Táchira and Caracas FC drew 1-1 this Sunday in Pueblo Nuevo.

After a first half with parity in the actions, the red club took advantage early in the second half and the local only reached the tie near the end.

Caracas, in the counterattack, had the first chances of the game, with shots by Richard Celis blocked by Alejandro Araque and a one-on-one chance that Santiago Rodríguez missed.

At the end of the initial stage, Táchira was the one with the best arrivals, with two attempts by Esli García that hit the post, the first of them in a free kick play.

The visiting team opened the account in minute 48, with a combination from the right that allowed Rodríguez’s pass defined in the aurinegra area by Celis.

The hosts struggled for the rest of the second half, until in minute 87 they reached equality, with a goal from Nelson Hernández after a service from Argentine Gonzalo Ritacco.

Beyond the emotion that the commitment generated, before a good presence of the public in San Cristóbal, the result complicated the aspiration of both to distance themselves from the rest of the contenders for a place in the final round of the 2023 Futve League.
