Louisiana Film Academy Set to Launch, Cultivating Next Generation of Filmmakers

BATON ROUGE, LA – A unique educational experience is coming to Louisiana’s capital region with the launch of the Louisiana Academy of Production (LAAP) in Fall 2026. This pioneering charter high school, one of only five of its kind in the nation, aims to create a direct pathway for students to careers in the burgeoning film industry.

The LAAP promises a distinctive curriculum blending customary academics with hands-on filmmaking. “These students will have the opportunity to have their core curriculum and their career education curriculum integrated into film, so basically what we are doing is creating a pipeline from high school to career or high school to college,” explained Fallon Buckner Ward, the school’s executive director.

Founding Principal Ceaser Hendricks emphasized the immersive nature of the education. “Our students are integrated into film productions in each of our core classes,” he stated. “In math, you’re going to learn how to do math, but you are going to learn how to create a film.” This innovative approach seeks to equip students with practical skills sought by professionals in the industry.
