A 27-year-old Moroccan man is under house arrest with electronic monitoring following a police operation in the province of Belluno, Italy, on February 10th. The arrest, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Belluno and involving mobile squads from Bolzano, Padua, Rovigo, and Treviso, along with the canine unit of Padua, concluded an investigation into drug and weapons trafficking.
The operation culminated in a search of the suspect’s residence in the Vittorio Veneto area. Authorities discovered 815 grams of hashish, packaging materials, and €1,000 in cash, comprised of various denominations. Also present at the residence was the suspect’s 24-year-old partner, a resident of Vittorio Veneto, who is under investigation for possession of 30 grams of cocaine and €800 in cash. Both the drugs, the money, and the suspect’s mobile phone were seized as evidence.
The suspect, who has a prior criminal record involving offenses against persons, property, and drug leverage, was initially remanded to custody at the Santa Bona prison. A court hearing on February 12th imposed a sentence of house arrest with electronic monitoring. The seized mobile phone will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation, authorities stated.
The broader police operation involved multiple searches conducted throughout the province and beyond, targeting individuals suspected of supplying and distributing various types of narcotics.
