Fox News maintained its position as the most-watched cable news network for the week of February 9, 2026, though viewership across the board saw fluctuations compared to both the previous week and the same period last year, according to Nielsen data. CNN experienced significant gains, while MS NOW saw a decline in its key demographic.
Fox News averaged 2.768 million total viewers in primetime, a 5% increase from the week prior, and 285,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic, up 4%. In total day viewing, the network reached 1.841 million total viewers and 187,000 in the demo, marking gains of 7% in both categories. Despite these increases, Fox News was down 8% in total viewers and 24% in the A25-54 demo during primetime compared to January 2025. Total day viewership also decreased year-over-year, down 7% in total viewers and 22% in the demo.
MS NOW averaged 1.126 million total viewers during primetime, a 3% increase, but experienced a 5% decrease in the A25-54 demo, reaching 127,000 viewers. Total day performance showed gains, with 720,000 total viewers and 79,000 demo viewers, representing increases of 6% and 5% respectively. Year-over-year, MS NOW saw positive growth, with a 4% increase in total primetime viewers and a 19% increase in the A25-54 demo. Total day numbers were also up, increasing 16% in total viewers and 25% in the demo compared to the same period last year.
CNN demonstrated the most substantial growth, averaging 895,000 total primetime viewers and 162,000 A25-54 viewers, up 19% and 14% respectively from the previous week. Total day viewership reached 613,000 total viewers and 99,000 demo viewers, with gains of 16% in both categories. Compared to January 2025, CNN’s primetime viewership surged 84% in total viewers and 59% in the demo. Total day numbers also rose, increasing 63% in total viewers, though the demo saw a 16% decrease.
The top 15 most-watched cable news shows were dominated by Fox News, with 14 programs appearing on the list. “The Five” led with 4.126 million total viewers at 5 p.m. ET. MS NOW’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET, was the only program from the network to make the list, landing in ninth place with 2.227 million total viewers. “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Fox News was the most-watched program in the Adults 25-54 demo, averaging 377,000 viewers. “The Rachel Maddow Show” also appeared in the demo rankings, finishing eighth with 253,000 viewers. CNN’s “CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip” was the only CNN program to appear in the top 15, averaging 188,000 demo viewers.
As of February 9, Fox News ranked first in total primetime viewership and third in demo viewership among all basic cable networks. It held the top spot in total day viewership and climbed to second in the demo. MS NOW remained third in total primetime viewers and dropped to eighth in the demo, tied with Comedy Central. It was third in total day viewers and seventh in the demo. CNN moved to fifth in total primetime viewers and sixth in the demo, and rose to fourth in total day viewers and fifth in the demo.
