Although some say the Edifier WH-950NB whether it’s a cheap alternative to the Sony WH-1000XM4, I digress. As you can see in this review, Edifier’s Bluetooth headphone has some differences when analyzing all its aspects. However, there is no denying that it is cheap for what it delivers. Check out the detailed review of the Edifier WH-950NB below.
Is the Edifier WH-950NB comfortable? Is the construction good?

One of the strongest points I consider in this Bluetooth headphone is comfort. It surprised me, because even though it is heavy, its weight is well distributed between the headband and the ear pads. I was able to wear it for hours without feeling the discomfort I felt with the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, which I recently reviewed.
However, I should mention that I felt such passive isolation that at several times, when I wasn’t touching anything, I might feel the muscle twitch as I moved my jaw. Only by relaxing my mouth did I stop hearing the sound of my body. This is due to the excellent sealing of the ear pads so that the sound does not leak out.
In terms of build quality, I noticed a lot of care on Edifier’s part to show that this is a “premium” product. The WH-950B is really beautiful and the feeling of touch in the ear cups (shells) and in the bow made of metal gives the feeling of solidity.
Comfort and construction of the Edifier WH-950NB Bluetooth headphones
However, even with all these praises regarding the construction, I must say that there is some concern regarding the durability of the ear pads, since they are made of pvc/pu that imitates leather. This type of fabric usually peels off over time, no matter how careful you are to prevent this from happening.
How is the WH-950NB’s active noise cancellation (ANC)?
After using the WH-950NB for several weeks, I have found that the active noise cancellation (ANC) of this Edifier Bluetooth headphone is average. There was a specific moment when I tried to muffle the noise coming from the vacuum cleaner that was in a room next to where I was, but the ANC was ineffective. It was like I didn’t have it activated.
Is the Bluetooth range and stability good?
Another point that surprised me regarding Edifier’s WH-950NB was how much it manages to keep the music playing flawlessly even when I’m at a good distance with several barriers. There were times when I was approximately 10 meters away and with 4 barrier walls, but the headset kept playing.
How are Edifier WH-950NB commands made?
Edifier’s WH-950NB commands are made through buttons that control the volume, music playback, in addition to ANC, ambient and everything off modes.

Is the WH-950NB’s sound quality good?
When I put the WH-950NB in my ears, I felt a muffled sound. However, following some time using the headset, I started to get used to the sound and I didn’t think it was bad overall, although I didn’t like it that much. I consider that this headphone has a frequency response that tends towards something that is not balanced, but at the same time it is not annoying, and can sometimes be fun.
A critical point, which affects the rest of the WH-950NB’s presentation, is the bass. Due to a greater activity in the low mids, there is an excessive volume in the perception of low frequencies. Furthermore, activity in this region is not well controlled and ends up affecting the mids and highs.
As if the question of the excessive mass of the bass were not enough, there is practically no weight in the sub-bass region, leaving the sound without “ground”. You feel there’s that lack of impact and depth. The bass on the generator sounds slow, fat, lacking definition and texture.
If the mids were natural, this problem in the bass would be partially compensated. Unfortunately, however, the WH-950NB’s mids are pulled back and the vocals sound too far away and closed. I thought at some point that the singer was singing inside a bathroom with the door closed.
To prevent the sound from being completely muted, fortunately Edifier gave a slight boost to the highs, leaving them slightly above normal. This made it have a nice glow, despite having practically no extension. At least the highs were never strident, providing a calm, relaxing listening experience.
In terms of the soundstage, we have an honest instrument separation, but nothing exceptional. But considering the price of the Bluetooth headphone, it’s acceptable.
Conclusion
The Edifier WH-950NB can be an excellent cost-benefit for many, mainly due to its comfort and build quality. However, there are some points that may displease like the ANC that I found “weak” and the dark, dull sound, with an excessive volume in the bass and with recessed mids. Considering the price, it’s not a bad choice, but the sound can be off depending on your taste.
