This Tuesday, October 1, a blood drive was organized by the French Blood Establishment (EFS) under the authority of Doctor Martinet and the volunteers of the Changy Blood Donor Association at the community hall, where was organized collection. “We registered only 32 donors out of 45 open appointments.” There was little attendance at this collection which took place one morning in rainy weather. “This explains that,” according to President Thierry Bouillon. Despite everything, the satisfaction of the members of the Changy Donor Association was very present when thinking of the useful work undertaken to save many lives. The president welcomed, among others, and with pleasure, his daughter Élodie Berland, caregiver in a protected unit (Alzheimer’s) and well-known geriatric practitioner in Charolais.

Man seriously injures himself while working in the garden with a chainsaw
A 46-year-old man was seriously injured while gardening with a chainsaw in Münchberg on Friday morning (October 4, 2024).
Accident: Chainsaw slips
At around 11:50 a.m., the man was alone trimming a tree on a ladder about four meters high. While he was trying to cut through a large branch with the chainsaw, he slipped and cut his left arm in the elbow area. The chainsaw, which was still running, also severed an artery, resulting in heavy blood loss.
Quick reaction prevents anything worse from happening
Despite the serious injury, the man managed to get off the ladder safely and had the presence of mind to bandage his heavily bleeding wound. Thanks to this quick self-help, life-threatening blood loss was prevented. Rescue workers who arrived quickly on the scene provided further medical care before the injured man was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
No risk to life after successful operation
Thanks to the injured man’s quick reaction, the rapid help of the rescue workers and an immediate operation, the 46-year-old’s life is no longer in danger.
Fiona MacDonald suffered from a severe nervous disorder and knew she was going to die. She decided to announce her death herself – including an emotional farewell message.
“The last few months have been tough,” wrote Fiona MacDonald, 67, in a post on Instagram on Thursday. Just part of an emotional message with a tragic background: the Australian TV presenter was no longer alive at the time.
MacDonald suffered for around three years from a rare motor neuron disease, which resulted in progressive damage to the nerve cells that control muscle strength. Her condition became particularly bad in the last six months. She could no longer eat solid food and feeding through a gastric tube didn’t work properly. “I slowly starved and became weaker and weaker. “I also developed terrible back pain because my muscles no longer supported my body,” MacDonald continued in the post.
She knew she wouldn’t have much time left. But she used this to write an emotional text that her sister Kylie was supposed to publish on her Instagram profile after her death.
MacDonald wanted to live, but also to be redeemed
That happened Thursday, the day after MacDonald’s death. The television presenter reported on her battle against the disease and the conflict of wanting to live but no longer having to endure the pain of death. “Although I never wanted to die, the thought of leaving my tortured body was a relief,” wrote the Australian.
At first she would have approached her illness with dark humor, but this increasingly turned into despair. That’s why MacDonald ultimately decided to stop all medical help. “If you love life as much as I do, it takes a lot of courage to make decisions that lead to farewell.”
But she doesn’t want to describe her death as a final farewell because she hopes to see her again on the other side. “I carry your love and laughter with me and hope that you will remember mine.”

Makes you fat: Which vegetables you shouldn’t eat on a diet
Losing weight in summer could look like this: When grilling, you’d rather choose corn on the cob instead of high-fat pork steak. But be careful of the weight loss trap!
Although corn contains vitamins and minerals, these ingredients still do not help you lose weight. A study names the weight loss saboteurs among vegetables.
Not too much starch
The multiple sugar starch can make losing weight difficult: the rapidly rising and falling blood sugar makes you quickly get cravings, and binge eating is not uncommon.
A study by the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health has recognized this and now warns against certain fruits and vegetables that could hinder your weight loss process. The researchers evaluated data from 13,000 test subjects, with the result that starchy foods in particular slow down weight loss.
Corn, peas etc. in moderation
According to the results, corn in particular is a weight-loss culprit. But beans, peas and potatoes are also starchy vegetables that can make losing weight more difficult.
However, starch-free beets and plants such as broccoli, tomatoes or carrots are more suitable. Their high water content and low calorie count make them so attractive.
Contrary to the study, other weight loss strategies recommend using potato tubers etc. In addition to starch, most vegetables, in addition to their healthy vitamins and minerals, also contain fiber, which curbs the feeling of hunger. The following applies: the right amount makes all the difference!
