Coaching awards

Seton head coach Kelly Crowley was honored as the Division I Coach of the year for the first time in her career. Under her leadership, the Saints have achieved an impressive record of 24-2 and celebrated a noteworthy victory over Mason in Saturday’s intense regional final, securing their first trip to the state tournament since 2005.

Taylor head coach Chelsea Miller was recognized with the Coaching Achievement Award in Division IV. She successfully guided the Yellowjackets to an outstanding 20-0 regular season, a remarkable feat during which they only lost two sets. Her team also clinched their second consecutive Cincinnati Hills League title.

Summit Country Day head coach Karen Hess received the Coaching Achievement Award in Division V. This year, the Silver Knights closed their season with a record of 17-8, successfully advancing to the district finals and demonstrating their competitive strength throughout the season.

**Interviewer:** ‌Five high school‌ volleyball teams ‍from Cincinnati have made it to‌ the 2024 state tournament. How significant is this achievement for those teams?

**Alex Reed:** It’s a ‌huge accomplishment! Qualifying for the state tournament is a dream for many athletes and coaches. It reflects not just skill ​and hard‌ work, but also the dedication and teamwork that has gone into the season. It showcases Cincinnati’s strength in volleyball.

**Interviewer:** The expansion of the ⁤sport ⁢from four divisions to seven ​has allowed new athletes to⁤ earn All-Ohio honors ⁢for the first ⁢time. How important is this change ‍for the sport and its players?

**Alex Reed:** This expansion ⁢is a landmark change! It gives more athletes ⁢the ​opportunity to be recognized⁤ for their hard ⁣work and talent. With 21​ athletes from 13 different schools in ⁢the Cincinnati area named to the All-Ohio ⁤teams, it truly highlights the depth of talent we have. It encourages more ⁢participation and enhances the competitive spirit in high school volleyball.

**Interviewer:** Looking over the All-Ohio teams, can you highlight a few standout ‌players that fans should keep an eye on?

**Alex Reed:** Definitely! Players like Sydney ‌Borowy from Magnificat and Sakura Codling from Seton on the Division I First Team have shown incredible potential. In Division II, Molly ‍Creech of St. Ursula ⁣and Ava McIntyre from Kings have also made a mark. Each of⁤ these athletes brings a unique strength ‌to their teams and will be exciting to watch in the tournament.
